Identity

Recently I've been having thoughts about identity. What makes me who I am? What can I be identified as? How many layers of "self" are there to humans?

I've been doing quite a bit of creating--drawing, sewing, anything that flexes my creative muscles--without the need for thought of sharing it with others. I have been creating for myself, and I think that's why my work has improved greatly. I am no longer creating for other people. This is why I've taken a little leave of absence from most social media (besides Instagram, but even then I haven't been uploading too frequently).

It's almost sort of awkward trying to write down what I'm thinking on this blog! I'm not used to forming my thoughts in a semi-eloquent manner, haha.

But back to my original thought: identity. It's weird to think about how we use our outer shells as a way of advertising ourselves to the world. Seven billion other people are thinking just as you are, yet we all feel compelled to share our individual thoughts. I like to think about this because it makes me wonder about uniqueness and how we define ourselves, and how each one of us is an individual, we just have a vast number of individuals.

It also comforts me to think that 7 billion people are able to think about this, and contemplate all of the different pieces of life. It is amazing how many humans exist and what we're capable of.

Well anyway, on the thought of Identity I took a few photos a couple of days ago based around this idea of how we define ourselves. If you strip down the image of a person, and all that's left is a shell, can you still identify them?

I'm back permanently now, I promise. :*

Spring Haul!

Hello my friends!
A little less than a week ago I uploaded a new haul to my YouTube Channel, and I thought I would finally share it on here. I'm finally getting back into the groove of uploading regularly on both here and my YouTube.

I'm going on vacation to Denver tomorrow, and I can't wait to get some great pictures while I'm there!!!
I'll talk to you soon.

Photo Set: On the Road

Hello my lovely friends!
How has your week been so far? I'm incredibly happy it's finally halfway over; this week could not be any longer. I hear back from MIT on Friday (it's Pi day, get it) and I do not know if I can wait another day and a half. I'm just itching to find out!
In other news on Monday I took some photos for my film class with my beautiful friend, Nickie, and I absolutely adore how they turned out! I took them right before sunset, and the lighting turned out just lovely.

The (film) photos I had to take for class were under the theme of surrealism, which is why I like the below photo so much. Her face is blocked out, yet it is obvious she is leaving somewhere, heading out On the Road.

Even though it looks freezing in most of these pictures, it was actually around 40 degrees most of the time, which enabled us to stay out so much longer! I can't wait for the warmth to finally settle in.

Do you guys like seeing these types of photos? Let me know!

I'll talk to you soon,
Megan

ALSO this dress is for sale on my Etsy shop, Mint Rose Vintage.

Throwback to Sunny Days

....sigh
As I mentioned yesterday, this cold weather has seriously got me down! I miss the warmth and green scenery. This winter has gone on far too long.
Last summer I made a video with my wonderful friend Nicole, which you can watch below, and I just recently found some photos that we also took around that time. It seriously has me wanting this school year to end sooner!

We went to a forest preserve near to my house, and just messed around while we were there. We spent the day filming and painting, and it was absolutely lovely. I can't wait for the crisp smells and open windows in the summer.

Here are some photos and screenshots I took of the video. Gosh, I'm glad I went back to brown hair!

What are you missing the most?

Spring Wishes: Featuring Shop Ruche!

Hello everyone!
I don't know about you, but I have been wishing for spring more than anything. It just snowed an extra 6 inches today. It's March, Mother Nature, go home you're drunk. All I know is that looking at pretty dresses and imagining the sunny days ahead have helped me cope with the winter blues. As such, I have compiled some of my favorite pieces from Shop Ruche! I have been following Ruche's collections for a few years now, and I have always loved the soft and delicate, but still trendy, aesthetic they have. It matches me perfectly!
Swinging Band Polka Dot Skirt
If you know me, then you know I'm a sucker for navy/black and white polka dots. No matter the style of the piece, it automatically gives it a retro vibe. But what I love the most about this skirt is the buttons down the front! It's such a cute and unique quality to it.
Enchantee Tunic Dress By Kling
Let me first start off by saying I am absolutely in love with this dress. I adore how it has a looser fit yet it still gives off a tailored and polished look, which is the ultimate confidence booster. And the slight sweetheart neckline is just perfect.
Darlene Bow Detail Dress
This is another dress that I immediately fell in love with. I always find exposed backs to be so sexy but feminine at the same time, without being too open. (If that makes much sense, ha!) But the color of this dress is the most delicate shade of blue, and I think this would make one look like a doll!

Edith Flatform Wedges
I've been looking for a pair of 70s inspired wedges for a while, and these shoes fit the bill perfectly!

Ruby Dress By BB Dakota
This is another dress that seems to speak directly to me, and I don't know if my wallet can handle all of the adorable dresses I've been looking at. The slight ruffling at the bottom creates such a light look to the dress!

Simple And Sweet Button-Up Blouse
Even though this is a more obvious addition to a closet, I can't help but admire the collar and fit of this blouse. I also love this almost-cream color, and I think a good button up with a cute collar is such a necessary piece in a closet.

Riviera Pendant Necklace
Last but not least, I found this amazing necklace! I've been seeing this style everywhere, and I love the early 1930s vibe it gives. Not only that, but that soft shade of salmon-pink makes it so unique.

Those are some of the items I would love to have as part of my wardrobe this spring, as I am trying to go for a more delicate but vintage look at the same time. ^^
I'll see you soon!

1,000 Subscribers

Yay!!!!!!!!! I have finally reached 1,000 subscribers on my YouTube channel (youtube.com/foxinater)!!!! I'm so excited. I put tons and tons of work into my videos, and it feels absolutely fantastic to know people care.

In celebration, I'm considering hosting a giveaway, except I'm not sure how to go about that! I was considering maybe contacting an Etsy shop, or a smaller online shop, but I don't know where to start! If you guys know anyone who is credible, and would be interesting in taking part, let me know either in the comments down below, or contact me at mfoxcontact@gmail.com. This is my ~professional~ email address.

I think this was definitely perfect timing. As I mentioned yesterday, I've been feeling a little out-of-myself recently, and this has given me such a huge morale boost. I feel so inspired to do even more. I feel amazing!

Coexisting

A little snippet of my room.
Stay sassy, everyone.

How has your week been so far? God, it's only Tuesday. I know, it's awful.
This is the first time this whole semester that we're having a full school week due to all of those nasty snow days this year already. And I'm almost speaking too soon because the low (with windchill) tomorrow is anywhere as bad as -30. Woooooo, Chicago! The strange part of this all is that the sun has a spring feeling to it, even though the air is so biting. I cannot wait for spring.

I've been feeling rather strange recently. Today, especially, I've been feeling this melancholic nostalgia. I mostly attribute this to the fact I used a purse I haven't used since freshman year, and suddenly I felt like another form of myself. Yesterday in my AP US Government class, we learned about the different roles of the president and how they all overlap each other at the same time. I've been feeling like that recently, with different factions of my self existing all at once and coming to the surface when I need them. I feel like little slices of who I am are showing through, like I'm wearing 50 hats at once, each a different layer of who I am.

Part of me wants to just be very minimalist and appreciate all of the little things, while another part wants to collect as many little tea cups and sets and just be happy. I'm not really sure what makes me happy at this point; it kind of shifts a lot. I've been feeling pretty incompetent recently, and honestly all I want to do is crawl up in bed and watch K-dramas and Disney movies. But I randomly get these spurts of energy when I feel like I'm on top of the world. I guess it's just regular teenager-hood.

I had this cute little photoshoot with myself, testing out this new portrait lens my dad gave me. Aren't the photos so pretty? I've always been in love with shallow-depth-of-field. Also, ignore the high contrast and low-res quality. I'm not sure why Blogger has been uploading some of my pictures like this, but I apologize! Also: isn't this the most adorable apron on the face of the planet!? My dad gifted it to me for Christmas, and I finally got the chance to use it a couple of weeks ago.

I guess I'm just in another slump and I need to find my way out. What do you do when you're feeling not sad but kind of uninspired? Let me know.
