Coexisting

A little snippet of my room.
Stay sassy, everyone.

How has your week been so far? God, it's only Tuesday. I know, it's awful.
This is the first time this whole semester that we're having a full school week due to all of those nasty snow days this year already. And I'm almost speaking too soon because the low (with windchill) tomorrow is anywhere as bad as -30. Woooooo, Chicago! The strange part of this all is that the sun has a spring feeling to it, even though the air is so biting. I cannot wait for spring.

I've been feeling rather strange recently. Today, especially, I've been feeling this melancholic nostalgia. I mostly attribute this to the fact I used a purse I haven't used since freshman year, and suddenly I felt like another form of myself. Yesterday in my AP US Government class, we learned about the different roles of the president and how they all overlap each other at the same time. I've been feeling like that recently, with different factions of my self existing all at once and coming to the surface when I need them. I feel like little slices of who I am are showing through, like I'm wearing 50 hats at once, each a different layer of who I am.

Part of me wants to just be very minimalist and appreciate all of the little things, while another part wants to collect as many little tea cups and sets and just be happy. I'm not really sure what makes me happy at this point; it kind of shifts a lot. I've been feeling pretty incompetent recently, and honestly all I want to do is crawl up in bed and watch K-dramas and Disney movies. But I randomly get these spurts of energy when I feel like I'm on top of the world. I guess it's just regular teenager-hood.

I had this cute little photoshoot with myself, testing out this new portrait lens my dad gave me. Aren't the photos so pretty? I've always been in love with shallow-depth-of-field. Also, ignore the high contrast and low-res quality. I'm not sure why Blogger has been uploading some of my pictures like this, but I apologize! Also: isn't this the most adorable apron on the face of the planet!? My dad gifted it to me for Christmas, and I finally got the chance to use it a couple of weeks ago.

I guess I'm just in another slump and I need to find my way out. What do you do when you're feeling not sad but kind of uninspired? Let me know.

Falling Out

Hey guys! I can't believe I've been absent from here for an entire month. I've been hitting myself on the back for it every day. I have so much to share with you guys, but I just couldn't get myself to sit down and write up a post. It was weird; I'm really sorry. I'm trying to get back into the groove, and I think I've just been devoting a lot of my time to reading and making YouTube videos. It's funny how I finally meet my goals regarding those two, but I slack off when it comes to blogging!

But apologies aside, I feel like I have a million things to show and share with you guys. Yet when I come to type it out, my mind goes blank. It's funny how that works out.

I've been really happy recently, actually, and I'm loving every minute of it. After the retreat I went on, I felt more free to be myself, knowing that I'll find acceptance despite all of my weirdness and quirks. I've also been working on redecorating my room, incorporating more greens and tans in excitement of the upcoming spring, no matter how far away it may seem. I'm just about to get everything put into place, and I'll be sharing pictures of it soon.

As just mentioned in my most recent YouTube video (It's a thrift/retail/miscellaneous haul), I just developed a few rolls of film I've been taking with this little digital film, point-and-shoot camera I thrifted at the end of December. I love how complaisant and dreamy the photographs ended up being. And the best part was, the camera was only $4! It's also small, and I've been shoving it in my purse and taking it everywhere with me.

I start working again next Wednesday, and surprisingly, I'm incredibly excited about it. I hate not having my own sufficient form of income, where I can provide for my little endeavors. It makes life easier, and I actually really like working. It makes me feel productive.

Even though it's pretty normal, this is one of my favorite pictures off the rolls of film. I feel like I captured some sort of feeling I've had this winter. I've matured and changed so much in just the past 6 weeks that I'm almost alarmed by it. It's crazy to look back at pictures of myself from even 6 months ago, and not even recognize the person forever immortalize in pixels. Before and now. Interesting to think about.

I'll see you guys either tomorrow or the day after. Don't worry, I'm not going to flake out again. I love posting, and I actually have no idea why I just never got around to it before. Until then, happy Thursday. :)

Glory & Gore Go Hand in Hand

Hello again! It seems these days I'm updating my blog & YouTube channel quite frequently. Glad to starting the year off strong :)

I just wanted to write a post about the little things I've been thinking about recently. I've been listening to a lot of Lorde and reading new fashion blogs, and I have all of this new inspiration flooding in and it's quite hard to organize in my head! I used to do this form of journaling (art journaling, I think??) that just included drawing and painting and cutting out pictures on the pages. I think it's a very accurate way of putting down my thoughts into actuality. Some good examples are here and here. I've noticed it's a huge thing with Rookie. (If you don't know what Rookie is, go look it up NOW. You won't regret it)

I feel that most of my stress from last semester is kind of drifting away, and I've had way more time to focus on my reading and art and general craft-making. Truly my only big worries as of current are hearing back from all of the colleges I've applied (MIT, pls, love me) and AP tests which both aren't until the way future. Other than that all I have to do is maintain decent grades, which isn't hard since all of my classes are pretty interesting.

Senior year is strange. I feel closer yet also distant with all of my classmates. It's almost as if I wonder why I should bother making new friends if I'm just going to say seeya in the next 6 months, but then I realize how rewarding it is every single time. Next week I'm going on this 3 day retreat for my school, so I won't have access to the internet or even a clock. It's like complete isolation. But apparently it's amazing, so we'll see.

Basically, life is pretty great right now. It's easy for me to say I'm happy.

Lately: Up & Coming

Hey guys! How was your New Years!? Isn't it just nuts to think it's already 2014!
Anyway, I thought I'd share some photos of my life lately and what I've been up to, as well as introducing you to some changes I've made/will make for 2014!

First and foremost, I have changed my Etsy shop completely! As of 6 PM Central time, I will have all new vintage items up, as well as a new name! I felt that Wearable Wishes was too juvenile, so I have changed it to Mint Rose Vintage. I think it has a cute ring to it. Check it out at mintrosevintage.etsy.com at 6 PM promptly! (That's Chicago time) Or click the caption in the photo below:

The next part of this update post is that I have a lot of super fun installments planned for this blob! I'm going to take this a little more seriously, and actually post more fashion related things. I haven't done an outfit post in ages, which is not fun because I have some seriously cute dresses to show you guys! I also would love to start reviewing items, so if you have a product you'd like me to review ~honestly~ send me an email at mfoxcontact@gmail.com I'm also planning on doing film and music posts as well as much more photography! I'm really excited for this upcoming year, as school has calmed down and I should be able to dedicate a lot more time to this blog, my YouTube channel, and my Etsy shop. :)

Now down to life stuff! For Christmas my lovely mom bought me the cutest pair of boots you ever did see. I finally got my hands on some Hunter Wellies! Black patent but of course. I have been wearing them nonstop.

The day after Christmas I threw an ugly sweater and it was too much fun. At one point half the party was gathered around the piano rapping Christmas songs while they played them. Now I leave you with some pictures of my beautiful friends!

Asian boyfriends hahaha
And then on New Years a similar group of people got together and it was a good time. Unfortunately I left my phone and my sim card at home so I didn't get very many pictures!! But these are a couple my friends took.

How has your holiday season been!? Can't wait to continue to talk to you this year. But currently, I need to attend to my Lord of the Rings marathon. Talk to you soon,
Megan

What's up, life?

Selfie with my cat and my new anorak
Say hello to my kitty, Brycie, and my new anorak. I feel like everything that can be said about life has been said.

Yes.

How are you on this glorious Thursday? I'm quite smitten, actually. Even though I've been doing a lot of relaxing (I'm sick, dawg), I feel as if I've been rather productive. I'm currently waiting for a new and shiny thrift haul to upload to YouTube, and I can't wait for it to be up! I found the cutest stuff for my Etsy shop. And this beautiful parka that was originally $148 from Nordstrom (!!!!!!!!!). I've also actually cleared out a lot of junk from my hard drive on my MacBook Pro so it's actually functional! Yay!

But aside from my checklist items, I also got to spend some lovely time with one of my best friends over coffee and chatter at Starbucks. She just finished her last finals of high school ever (she's graduating early) and we just sat and talked about life and the future, and I am just too darn excited for life. I mean, I love high school and blah blah blah, but there is just so much more out there. I crave a little more freedom. (I go to a private school so I have a uniform, eugh).

ALSO HERE'S MY VIDDDDDD
(if the video doesn't work, check back in an hour because it's probably still processing)

I'm simply happy. I love it.

Life Update

Hey guys! How have you been? I've so missed posting regularly! If you're wondering why I've sort of disappeared from the blogosphere/YouTube, there's only one reason: finals. Ugh, I know. The worst. And I'm taking only three finals this year, too. It's mostly just the sheer amount of homework my teachers have decided to pile on me right at the end of the semester.

Basically I've just wanted to give you guys an update on my life etc etc because I know you care oh so much. (That was sarcasm if it didn't translate well!)

Anyway, the picture at the top of this post is a little something I made from a song called Femme Fatale by the Velvet Underground & Nico. You should definitely listen to it because it's one of my favorite songs of all time, and it's perfect. (I'll be talking more about music in some upcoming posts I have planned out, ooooh!) Anyway, this is the embedded video for the song:

Also, do any of you know much about graphic design and/or typography? I've been incredibly interested the both recently, and I'd love to find some resources to delve further into it over Christmas break.

Another thing I've been up to is actually just a lot of film watching. I've been sick for the past 3 weeks with what I'm convinced is the flu, but I've been having to go to school regardless. My nights consist of a lot of movies. (A lot of Johnny Depp movies, actually) Would you be interested in sort-of reviews of the films I've watched? Let me know in the comments down below!

Basically school has consumed all of my time, so I don't have much to say beyond that. Oh and that I've had a complete latte addiction recently; it's quite necessary with my sickness. :(

If you want to follow me on Bloglovin, click this lil' button here! It's a great way to stay up with all of my current posts. They even send out an email every morning with a list of new posts from all of the blogs you follow! I've been using it myself for over a year. :)

Life Lately

Hello my lovely friends! How has your week been so far? Excited for the weekend? I know I am! My big sis is actually getting married tomorrow, which is absolutely crazy. My schedule has been completely bonkers because of it, and that's why blogging kind of took the back burner. Tonight was the rehearsal and dinner, and I got some cute pictures of my family and I. I'm the maid of honor, so I'm staying at this Bed & Breakfast (the cutest) with the rest of the bridal party, and I'm definitely soaking up its relaxation. I even got to take a bath! Last October my mom ripped out the master bath, so we no longer own a tub. :(

Pure bliss.
Last weekend all of my close friends and I had the most wonderful time surprising my good friend, Tim, with an eighteenth birthday party! It was a blast. I seriously love my friends; they are honestly so great. I always say I would love to have friends interested in fashion and what not, but sometimes it's good to have that diversity. It keeps the conversation flowing, in a sense. I just can't believe I have less than a semester left with them. More photos to come soon of the wedding, but until then, I hope you enjoy your weekend :)
